About Learn Work Develop (LWD)
Learn Work Develop (LWD) is a Rwandan NGO established in 2013, dedicated to empowering youth and women through decent work, sustainable employment, and breaking barriers to equal participation in the workforce.
Since September 2023, LWD has partnered with Plan International Rwanda to implement the Bike for Future Project, which promotes gender equality and youth empowerment in STEM, especially engaging young girls in male-dominated trades through the #Sports4Change approach.
Role Overview
The Community Development Coordinator will support the implementation of the Bike for Future Project in Bugesera District. This includes coordinating activities, mobilizing communities, engaging local stakeholders, and ensuring effective delivery of project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement project activities at the District level.
- Engage local government and community partners to support project goals.
- Facilitate training sessions on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills.
- Support youth, especially girls, to access vocational training in STEM and bike repair.
- Organize awareness campaigns, youth forums, and sports-based gender promotion events.
- Supervise safe spaces for project participants and ensure effective data collection and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (STEM, Economics, Management, Gender and Social studies).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in community development or youth programs.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting youth and women’s income-generating initiatives.
- Proficient in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an asset.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
- Passionate about sports, especially cycling and youth empowerment.
- Self-driven, creative, and able to work under pressure.
