Translating to ‘’ we strive for the development of the rural community ‘’in English. It is a non-profit organization located in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, within the kicukiro district, Niboye sector.it was established in 1979 by a group of Rwandans who identified the crucial need for rural development in the country.

DUHAMIC-ADRI is a Non-Governmental Organization legally granted by Rwandan law and legally recognized by the Ministerial Order No. 943 of July 12, 1985. Its statutes were amended and accepted by the Ministerial OrderNo.025/11of21th March 2005. With the vision to have « A rural world responsible for its self-socio-economic development », DUHAMIC-ADRI has a mission of « Supporting integrated development through the initiatives of the rural population in their struggle for self-development». DUHAMIC-ADRI’s interventions reaches 27 districts of Rwanda as follow: Kicukiro, Nyarugenge, Burera, Gakenke, Gicumbi, Musanze, Rulindo in Northern Province; Gisagara; Huye; Kamonyi; Muhanga; Nyamagabe; Nyanza; Nyaruguru and Ruhango in South Province; Nyabihu; Nyamasheke; Rubavu; Rusizi and Rutsiro of Western Province and then Gatsibo; Kayonza; Kirehe; Ngoma; Nyagatare and Rwamagana of Eeastern Province.

2. Introduction

DUHAMIC-ADRI in partnership with Care International Rwanda and its implementing partners are implementing the five years’ project; Supporting and Enhancing Resilient and Viable Employment Opportunities (SERVE) Project. This program is funded by MasterCard Foundation through the partnership of Care International and focus on to build a resilient, sustainable, gender equitable, and inclusive entrepreneurial environment that increases dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for predominantly female youth in agricultural value chains in 10 districts across Rwanda trough supporting MSE owners and high-potential entrepreneurs to launch or grow their businesses sustainably and builds agricultural skills that increase productivity and diversity in response to market needs and opportunities, all with sustainable climate-smart principles.

SERVE Project will be implemented in 10 districts namely Rulindo, Gakenke, Nyabihu, Rubavu, Rwamagana, Kayonza, Kirehe, Ngoma, and Huye. The project targets youth aged between 18 and 35 years and 70% of them must be women engaged in or with the potential to engage in agricultural businesses and smallholder farming, also known as SMEs.

3. Activity description

During this agriculture season B 2024, SERVE project successfully organized youth to cultivate chili on 71ha, tomatoes on 114ha and fresh beans on 187 ha. Large number of youths were supported to start poultry businesses. As part of it, the following post harvest materials shall be purchased:

• Plastic Crates: Provide durable and efficient crates suitable for the harvesting, transportation and storage of chili, French beans, and tomatoes. These will be utilized to demonstrate proper handling to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
• Egg Trays: Procure egg trays to illustrate effective handling, storage and transport practices for poultry products, ensuring they meet market standards and regulations.

4. Objectives of supporting link farmers to access quality harvest and post-harvest equipment.

The following are the specific objectives for this activity:

• Access to post-harvest equipment: Facilitate farmers' access to quality harvest and post-harvest equipment, emphasizing crates, sheeting, and egg trays.
• Creating Linkages and Networking: Establish connections between farmers and relevant stakeholders, including suppliers, markets, and support organizations. Networking opportunities can lead to valuable partnerships and collaborations that further support farmersTop of Form
• Best Practices Demonstration: Showcase and promote best practices in post-harvest handling for chili, French beans, tomatoes, and poultry products.
• Youth Empowerment: Support and empower youth farmers to adopt and comply with quality assurance requirements for agricultural products.
• Market Compliance: Enhance farmers' ability to meet local, regional, and international market standards, thereby expanding market access.
• Reducing Post-Harvest Losses: Minimize losses occurring after harvesting through the proper use of equipment such as crates, sheeting, and egg trays. Reducing post-harvest losses contributes to increased economic returns for farmers.
• Empowering Farmers, Particularly Youth: Empower farmers, including youth, by providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to handle post-harvest activities effectively. This empowerment can lead to increased confidence, independence, and sustainability in agricultural practices.

5. Quantity of needs, specifications and budget estimation

7. Procurement process

This tender will be done through public tendering process and qualified companies and cooperatives will be invited to bid.

The following terms and conditions shall be observed during tendering process:

1. Quotation shall include all taxes and transportation costs to above mentioned sites
2. The bidder must have sufficient store of the needed materials.
3. A commitment letter to supply no later than 7 days upon reception of purchase order
4. Bidders are requested to visit the sample of materials at DUHAMIC-ADRI head office from 18^th to 23^rd, April 2024 from 8AM to 5PM
5. RDB Certificate
6. Taxe clearance certificate
7. Proof of using EBM
8. Having conducted the similar activity, demonstrated by at least 2 certificates of good completion
9. Companies are allowed to apply for all lots

The prices proposed in the financial proposal (quotations) shall include all taxes and transport.

Bids will be submitted in a sealed envelope and addressed to the Executive Secretary of DUHAMIC-ADRI at Kicukiro head office no later than Wednesday 24 April 2024 at 10:00AM

The public opening of bids is fixed on the same day at 10:30AM at the headquarters of DUHAMIC-ADRI.
