JOB DETAILS:
Title: Product Associate (Consumer Electronics Appliances)
Reports to: Product Manager: BBOXX Power DC
Location: Kigali, Rwanda (with some travel to China and other locations)
Role brief: This role is responsible for managing the full life cycle of appliances used with BBOXXs solar home systems. This includes developing new appliance ideas, writing user requirements, coordinating with the sourcing team, and managing the rollout of new appliances. .

Job Responsibilities:
• Defining the requirements for appliances;
• Working with the research team and other product managers to identify new appliance ideas and evaluate their feasibility and impact
• Conducting research to identify key requirements, demand, etc. for new appliances
• Compiling user requirements and technical requirements for new appliances
• Coordinating the sourcing process for all appliances;
• Working with the sourcing team in China to source and test appliances that meet the technical requirements identified
• Conducting any field tests needed to evaluate the suitability of potential appliances
• Managing the rollout of new appliances;
• Coordinating with other teams to create marketing documents, sales strategies, prices, and repair manuals for new appliances
• Compiling product packs that contain all of the information that country offices need to know to rollout new appliances
• Working with country teams to organize the first rollouts of new appliances to ensure that they go smoothly
• Monitoring appliance performance and managing the appliance life cycle;
• Coordinating with the technical teams to monitor appliance failure rates and customer satisfaction with existing appliances
• Suggesting updates to appliances and coordinating with the sourcing team to make these changes

About you
• Bachelors degree, preferably in product design or mechanical engineering
• 2+ years of experience in product design, product management, or a similar field
• Creative flair, conceptual/visual ability, and originality
• Ability to work under pressure, and in a flexible manner
• Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas effectively at all levels of an organization
• Up to date with the latest consumer electronics technologies, and experience in consumer electronics preferred
• Experience with business models and basic financial analysis a plus
• Experience conducting human-centered design research and a love for uncovering customer needs
