Public Relations & Communication Officer
Level:4.II
Job description
Reporting: Public Relations & Communication Officer reports to the Director General.
Duties and Responsibilities
• The Public Relations Officer is responsible for:
• Handling all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and PR activities during periods of crisis;
• Publicize and appropriately communicate RTDA’s activities, appointments and awards to stakeholders and to the general public as necessary;
• Develop and establish “appropriate” communication channels in consultation with the DG/DDG;
• Report regularly to DG on both the communications and success rate, recommending any revision to the plan;
• Handle media on behalf of the RTDA ensuring that details of any such media involvements and immediately communicated to the DG;
• Monitor public opinion regarding the RTDA on particular issues
• Develop and implement communication strategies for the RTDA and advise management on communication issues and strategies;
• Plan public relations programs, including the preparation of cost and budgets related to public relations;
• Respond to enquiries from the public, media and other organizations;
• Arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute press releases, and make statements to the media;
• Prepare organizational documents such as annual reports, press releases, briefings, documentaries, corporate profiles and submissions;
• Oversee production of visual (film or video), audio and electronic material, including managing websites
• Conduct internal communication courses, workshops and media training;
• Assess risks and implement crisis and issues planning to ensure an organization’s reputation is maintained;
• Plan, develop and manage brand identity;
• Organize and manage events, exhibitions, conferences and product launches;
• Plan and implement publicity strategies and campaigns;
• Provide RTDA with information about new promotional opportunities and current PR campaigns progress;
• Liaise with RTDA, managerial and journalistic staff about budgets, timescales and objectives;
• Design, write and/or produce presentations, press releases, articles, leaflets, ‘in-house' journals, reports, publicity brochures, information for web sites and promotional videos; and
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Communication
3 Years of relevant experience
