Veterinary Laboratory Quality Assurance Senior Research Technician
Level:3.IV
Job description

Report to the Veterinary services program Coordinator / Veterinary Laboratory Manager Senior Research Technician with the following responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing research and innovation in accordance with approved work plans and budgets
• Conduct research in Veterinary Laboratory Quality Assurance in collaboration with other researchers in their regular activities.
• Implements and maintains a comprehensive quality assurance/quality control program including preparing and distributing blind samples, ordering and distributing quarterly quality control standards.
• Reviews and evaluates all laboratory results / records, applying quality assurance criteria.
• Continuously reviews and updates the Laboratory’s Quality Manual.
• Continuously reviews and updates the Laboratory SOP’s
• Serves as Safety Officer for veterinary Diagnostic Labs
• Reviews all quality control data and prepares quarterly compliance reports for submittal to the Veterinary Manager Senior Research Technician
• Conducts the annual internal quality system audit and prepares the annual report which is submitted to the Veterinary Manager Senior Research Technician
• Assists analysts in trouble shooting quality assurance/quality control problems and making appropriate corrections to their systems.
• Train lab managers and technicians on regulatory and safety issues
• Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences relevant to field of research and bring visibility of institute in local and international forums
• Participate in innovation platforms at all levels of the Rwandan agricultural systems
• Write and contribute to scientific publications on his/her research results in accordance with prescribed policy published in force
• Identify infrastructure and equipment required for the modernization of research and laboratory testing
• Follows all written work instructions as approved by the quality assurance/quality control program
• Prepare weekly, monthly, a quarterly and annual report on research activities carried out

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences

• Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology
10 Years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Virology

• Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Studies
