JOB DETAILS:
  Nurses provide clinical care to refugees at the site level, according to all national health protocols. He/she will maintain records of patient data for reporting purposes and will work to maintain and improve the level of healthcare for beneficiaries. This position may work in several different capacities within the nursing continuum, including IPD/OPD care, HIV/AIDs programming (in PMTCT and VCT), pharmacy management, and referral services, all according to both ARC and Rwanda Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines..

Job Responsibilities:
• Fill client file and register book for each patient who comes in for a consultation
• Interview patients to obtain information that will guide diagnosis with though physical examination of the patient while in consultation
• Write all lab exams and findings in the patient file and in a register book
• Prescribe treatment for the patient consulted with extra attention on doses and side effects
• Make the decision on which patient can be referred to the medical doctor
• Make sure the consultation activities start by the scheduled time and finish when the last patient is consulted
• Perform PIT when it is necessary, and report all HIV-positive cases to HIV Program
• Ensure FP is fully integrated into consultation
• Maintain medical materials and equipment
• Coordinate with other health staff on self-assessment of clinical skills and challenges.
• Perform recordkeeping procedures when registering patients according to health center protocols
• Follow up on patients that he/she has consulted and hospitalized.
• Organize, complete, and manage patient data files according to confidentiality/organizational protocols
• Interviews patient for information on guiding to the diagnosis with a physical examination of the patient while in consultation.
• Take vital signs regularly and record them properly on patients files
• Assist medical doctor in doing wards rounds on a daily basis
• Verify all hospitalization materials, including beds, bedsheets, bed covers, medical materials, and equipment, etc.
• Work with health center cleaners in order make sure visits to hospitalized patients are done according to health center plan.
• Coordinate with other health staff on self-assessment of clinical skills and challenges.
• Remind all hospitalized patients and home-health aide to avoid forbidden habits like smoking and consumption of alcohol
• Maintain proper recordkeeping procedures when registering patients
• Follow up the patients that are in hospitalization.
• Perform handovers to the night duty team as per handover checklists

Job Qualifications:
• A1 in the Nursing field
• 2-3 years of experience in nursing in a clinical setting in Rwanda
• Analytical and organizational skills/experience with health data
• Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Systems, Nutrition protocols, HIV protocols, and Primary and Reproductive Health Care concepts, including Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
• Strong report writing skills with proven organizational/multi-tasking skills.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills with proven ability to work across multiple technical areas simultaneously, supporting and mentoring multiple staff members.
• Experience in collecting patient data for health systems monitoring purposes.
• Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of health-related projects
• Oral/writing skills in Kinyarwanda, English, and French.
• Ability to coordinate with other health sector staff in a diverse environment
• Must have cross-cultural and strong interpersonal skills to work with refugees and vulnerable persons.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working in protracted refugee situation and/or previous experience in Rwanda
• Strong clinical skills in a low-resource, fast-paced setting, working with vulnerable/displaced persons
• Commitment to personally champion ARC’s program vision and mission and inspire others to do the same.
• Has worked in both an emergency and a development setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including effective presentation and facilitation skills
• Initiative, resourcefulness, and innovation.
• Punctual at his/her duty station
