HIRING INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT FOR TEAM TRAINER
The Center for One Health at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is on a mission to lead high impact research, teaching, and community service among vulnerable communities in Rwanda and the world. Community One Health Empowerment in Rwanda and Senegal (COHERS) is a four-year research program that aims to (i) operationalize One Health disease prevention, detection and response at the community level, (ii) test One Health interventions that reduce the burden of cysticercosis, and (iii) generate evidence to support programs and policies for cysticercosis elimination in Rwanda. As part of this work, we will be training village One Health Teams in topics related to our work (e.g. zoonotic diseases, swine production, gender, data collection). The One Health Trainer will be responsible for teaching 30 modules of materials to One Health Teams in Nyamagabe District, Southern Province, Rwanda. The Trainer will receive teaching materials and will participate in an orientation workshop at the start of the contract.

As a follow-up project, UGHE has started to disseminate the transferable lessons by engaging policymakers, decision-makers, and implementers in countries that still have challenges to effectively implement the EBIs. Through an Executive Education program, this exercise involves introducing the leaders to implementation research, EBIs, implementation strategies, and contextual factors as well as the transferable lessons drawn from previous studies. The leaders would then go back to their home countries and implement the same strategies to reduce the U5M.
The One Health Trainer will be responsible for the following deliverables:
The TOT will report directly to Professor Cate Dewey and will be expected to travel to Nyamagabe District where the training sessions will be conducted and other secondary study sites. The training will take place monthly.
Outputs or expected results and reports.
The One Health Trainer will participate in a 2–3-day orientation session with Trainers from the University of Guelph and provide feedback on the proposed curriculum. The format of this feedback can be either verbal or written. The One Health Trainer will conduct 3 training sessions per month over a 10-month period (30 sessions total) and submit monthly reports to recap attendance, participant feedback, and suggestions for curriculum improvement.
