INADES- Formation Rwanda is a Rwandan Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). It is part of the pan-African INADES- Formation network, which operates in ten countries: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Chad and Togo.
INADES-Formation is the common name for the African Institute for Economic and Social Development – African Training Center. INADES-Formation Rwanda was established in 1976 and obtained legal status through Ministerial Decree No. 119 of August 22, 1977, revised by Ministerial Decree No. 75/11 of April 18, 2006. Since May 29, 2013, the organization has been officially recognized as a national NGO in accordance with Law No. 04/2012 of February 17, 2012, governing the establishment and operation of NGOs in Rwanda, and has received its official accreditation from the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB).
INADES-Formation Rwanda's societal project is to serve the common good for a dignified life for all. Its vision is to contribute to a prosperous and influential rural world. Its mission is to promote the social and economic development of the population, placing particular emphasis on their free and responsible participation in the transformation of their societies.
In this context, INADES-Formation Rwanda wishes to recruit a full-time Accountant responsible for the accounting management of projects implemented by the organization. He/she will ensure the processing of accounting transactions in accordance with general accounting principles and the internal procedures manual, while respecting the policies and regulations of the INADES-Formation network.
Responsibilities or duties
The accountant will be responsible for, among other things:
- Prepare the documents necessary for payments;
- Control and ensure the compliance of accounting documents provided by fund users;
- Classify, order and archive supporting documents;
- Prepare monthly payroll and final staff statements;
- Ensure compliance with accounting, tax and social obligations;
- Perform daily accounting entries with correct allocation of accounts and analytical axes (projects, activities, cost centers) in the SAGE 100 software, with the possibility of migration to another software;
- Maintain general accounting records in accordance with applicable standards;
- Manage third-party accounting (customers, suppliers, partners, staff);
- Ensure the accounting of commitments (expenses payable, revenues receivable, provisions, depreciation);
- Conduct a physical inventory of fixed assets;
- Maintain appropriate accounting documentation in electronic and physical format;
- Ensure compliance and availability of supporting documents required by landlords;
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash transactions;
- Produce regular budget monitoring reports and financial reports for partners;
- Participate in monthly, quarterly and annual closings;
- Prepare periodic financial statements and documents required for audits;
- Ensure the availability of information during audits and contribute to the implementation of recommendations;
- Perform any other task assigned by management related to their skills.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- To be of Rwandan nationality;
- Hold an A0 level university degree in Accounting; a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is an asset;
- Have completed professional accounting training (CPA, CIFA, CAT) or be in the process of advanced training;
- Proficiency in accounting software (knowledge of Sage 100 and Sage Payroll is an advantage);
- Proficiency in computer tools (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
- Mastering French and English (spoken and written);
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Hold a category B driving licence;
- Be between 20 and 45 years old;

Demonstrate at least 3 years of experience in NGO accounting;

Working conditions: The accountant will work under an open-ended contract, subject to the conditions described in section 4. Salary will follow the salary scale in effect at INADES-Formation Rwanda. The employee is covered by health insurance through the RSSB. The accountant reports to the Administrative and Financial Director (DAF) and must interact with the Accounting Department of the General Secretariat.
