About U.H Mining Company Ltd

U.H Mining Company Ltd, a member of the RANI Group, is a growing mining company engaged in the exploration, development and extraction of strategic minerals in Rwanda. As part of its expansion and mechanisation programme, the Company is seeking to recruit a highly qualified, experienced and results-oriented Chief Mine Geologist to lead geological activities and support efficient, safe and sustainable mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all geological activities for exploration, resource evaluation and mine production.
  • Develop and implement geological mapping, sampling and grade control programmes.
  • Supervise orebody modelling, resource estimation and geological interpretation.
  • Provide geological guidance for mine planning and production optimisation.
  • Ensure accurate ore delineation and minimise dilution and ore losses.
  • Coordinate drilling programmes and core logging activities.
  • Maintain geological databases, models and technical records.
  • Work closely with Mining Engineers, Surveyors and Processing teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with mining legislation, environmental requirements and health and safety standards.
  • Prepare geological reports, resource updates and technical presentations for management.
  • Supervise and mentor geological staff and contractors.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology or Earth Sciences from a recognised university. A Master's Degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience in mining geology, preferably in underground mining operations.
  • Experience in geological modelling and resource estimation software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of grade control, structural geology and mineral resource evaluation.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and ability to work in remote mining locations.
  • Good proficiency in both Kinyarwanda and English. Proficiency in French is an added advantage.
