Project or context description
Expertise France opened its Country Office in February 2026 and has established a Project Support Unit composed of HR, Finance, Procurement, and Logistics departments, dedicated to supporting the operational delivery of a portfolio of 11 projects.
In this context, Expertise France is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Driver to support the daily operational needs of its teams, at Kigali and throughout the country.
Main responsibilities
Transport and movements
- Ensure the safe and punctual transport of staff, visitors, partners and goods according to the established schedule.
- Plan routes according to priorities, traffic conditions and security instructions, applying defensive-driving principles.
- Keep the vehicle log book and the movement tracking sheet up to date and report any delay or unforeseen event.
Vehicle maintenance and monitoring
- Carry out daily checks (fluid levels, tyres, brakes, lights, safety equipment) and keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy.
- Report any malfunction or maintenance need without delay and follow up on authorised servicing and repairs.
- Ensure that the mandatory documents and equipment are on board (insurance, technical inspection, first-aid kit, warning triangle, fire extinguisher).
Safety, security and compliance
- Comply at all times with the highway code, speed limits and the organisation’s safety rules, and ensure the safety of passengers and goods.
- Apply security and emergency procedures and immediately alert management in the event of an accident, incident or at-risk situation.
- Comply with the code of conduct, confidentiality rules and the policy on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA/PSEAH), and keep mandatory training up to date.
Logistical support
- Provide logistical support during events, training sessions and field missions, and carry out administrative errands as required.
Required profile
Education and experience
- Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
- Valid driving licence, category B minimum (categories C/D an asset), held for at least 5 years.
- At least 5 years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably with an NGO, international organisation, embassy or transport company.
- Clean driving record with no serious offence or suspension.
- Security training (certificate), especially provided by international organisation, and/or 1st aid/basic life support are strongly an asset.
Technical skills
- Thorough knowledge of the Rwandan highway code and good knowledge of the road network of Rwanda and the sub-region.
- Practice of defensive driving and eco-driving
- Ability to use a smartphone and its geolocation / GPS function (navigation, route sharing, tracking applications).
- Ability to carry out first-level mechanical checks and to diagnose common faults.
- Proficient in driving both manual and automatic transmissions
Languages (mandatory)
- Fluency in both French and English is required (spoken)
Physical and medical fitness
- Excellent physical condition allowing long journeys and occasional handling of loads.
- Medical fitness to drive, to be confirmed by a medical certificate
Behavioural skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and safety; punctuality, reliability and rigour.
- Discretion, confidentiality, courtesy and a smart appearance.
- Composure and self-control in stressful or emergency situations; availability and flexibility.
