Rutongo Mines Ltd is a Tin Mining Company, situated in Masoro Sector, Rulindo District, Northern Province. The Management of Rutongo Mines Ltd informs the public that it is recruiting Internal and external Competent, Qualified and Experienced staff for the following position:
Job Purpose:
The Environment and Community Section Leader is responsible for implementing environmental management and community engagement activities in line with company policies, legal requirements, and sustainability standards. The role ensures compliance, promotes positive community relations, and supports responsible mining practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement environmental management plans and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor environmental parameters such as water quality, air quality, waste management, and land rehabilitation.
- Support environmental audits, inspections, and reporting processes.
- Lead community engagement initiatives and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders.
- Coordinate community development projects in collaboration with management.
- Handle community grievances and ensure timely resolution.
- Raise awareness on environmental protection and social responsibility within the company and surrounding communities.
- Prepare environmental and community reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with ESIA, environmental permits, and company standards.
- Supervise field activities related to environmental monitoring and community programs
- Support training of staff on environmental and social standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate environmental and community considerations into operations.
- Performs any other task/s required by his/her Superior or and Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, Social Sciences, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental management and/or community relations, preferably in mining or related industries.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and community engagement practices.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and project coordination is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Leadership and coordination skills.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills.
- Commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office and field-based work.
- Regular interaction with local communities and site operations.
- May require travel to different operational and community locations.
