Position Summary
The Mine Planner will be responsible for developing short, medium and long-term mine plans, optimizing production schedules, coordinating mine development activities and supporting efficient extraction of mineral resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop short, medium and long-term mine plans.
- Prepare production schedules and mine development programmes.
- Design underground development layouts, stopes and haulage plans.
- Monitor production against approved mine plans and recommend improvements.
- Work closely with Geologists, Surveyors and Mining Engineers to optimize extraction.
- Prepare mine designs, production forecasts and technical reports.
- Support drilling, blasting, ventilation and ground support planning.
- Monitor ore reserves and reconcile production data.
- Ensure compliance with mining legislation, safety and environmental standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in mine planning, preferably in underground mining.
- Experience with mine planning software such as Surpac, Deswik, Datamine or MineSched is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work in remote mining locations.
- Good proficiency in both Kinyarwanda and English. Proficiency in French is an added advantage.
