  1. Profile of DUHAMIC-ADRI

DUHAMIC -ADRI is a Kinyarwanda acronym that stands for Duharanira Amajyambere y’Icyaro.

Translating to ‘’ we strive for the development of the rural community ‘’in English. It is a non-profit organization located in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, within the kicukiro district, Niboye sector.it was established in 1979 by a group of Rwandans who identified the crucial need for rural development in the country.

DUHAMIC-ADRI is a Non-Governmental Organization legally granted by Rwandan law and legally recognized by the Ministerial Order No. 943 of July 12, 1985. Its statutes were amended and accepted by the Ministerial OrderNo.025/11of21th March 2005. With the vision to have « A rural world responsible for its self-socio-economic development », DUHAMIC-ADRI has a mission of « Supporting integrated development through the initiatives of the rural population in their struggle for self-development». DUHAMIC-ADRI’s interventions reaches 27 districts of Rwanda as follow: Kicukiro, Nyarugenge, Burera, Gakenke, Gicumbi, Musanze, Rulindo in Northern Province; Gisagara; Huye; Kamonyi; Muhanga; Nyamagabe; Nyanza; Nyaruguru and Ruhango in South Province; Nyabihu; Nyamasheke; Rubavu; Rusizi and Rutsiro of Western Province and then Gatsibo; Kayonza; Kirehe; Ngoma; Nyagatare and Rwamagana of Eeastern Province.

  1. Project background

DUHAMIC-ADRI in partnership with Care International Rwanda and its implementing partners are implementing the five years’ program Supporting and Enhancing Resilient and Viable Employment Opportunities (SERVE) Project. This program is funded by MasterCard Foundation through the partnership of Care International and focus on to build a resilient, sustainable, gender equitable, and inclusive entrepreneurial environment that increases dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for predominantly female youth (18-35 years) in agricultural value chains in 10 districts across Rwanda : Rulindo and Gakenke in in Northern Province; Kayonza, Rwamagana, Ngoma, and Kirehe in Eastern Province; Nyamagabe, and Huye in Southern Province; and Nyabihu and Rubavu in Western Province.

In order to ensure the smooth implementation of Duhamic-Adri's intervention under the SERVE Project, which encompass improving market-based agricultural productivity and diversification while also promoting inclusive agricultural market linkages; Duhamic-Adri assumes a pivotal responsibility that also involves promoting and linking farmers with suppliers of Smart Agriculture technologies (SSIT, Hydroponic farming kits, Greenhouse equipment, ……) for increasing production.

DUHAMIC-ADRI intends to engage a reputable firm/company for the supply of movable solar-powered irrigation equipment. This initiative aims to demonstrate the functionality of the equipment while providing support to farmers in the Eastern Province of Rwanda, with a specific focus on Rwamagana, Kirehe, Ngoma, and Kayonza districts. The primary objective is to empower farmers to effectively cope with drought conditions through sustainable irrigation practices.

  1. Objectives
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of mobile solar-powered irrigation systems in enhancing agricultural productivity.
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of movable solar-powered irrigation equipment in addressing water scarcity.
  • Support farmers in the Eastern Province, especially in the identified districts, to enhance their resilience to drought conditions.
  • Contribute to the overall improvement of agricultural practices in the Eastern Province.
  • Provide practical training to farmers on the usage, maintenance, and benefits of solar-powered irrigation

Scope of Work

The selected firm/company is expected to:

  • Supply 11 high-quality movable solar-powered irrigation pumps complete with Battery: 12V and 200A with charge controller, 10m of suction Flexible hose pipe (TDH=40m and Q=45L/Min), Solar Panels: 400Wp, Trolley of 2 Wheels with the battery room, Hose pipe of 32mm thick: 100m, 3 Flare Nuts spanners for each kit (Size: 8,10,15).
  • Supply and deliver the agreed-upon irrigation equipment to the designated locations.
  • Provide installation services and offer technical training sessions on proper use, maintenance, and benefit of the equipment to farmers and local technicians.
  • Ensure that the supplied equipment is adaptable to the local conditions and meets the specific needs of farmers in the mentioned districts.
  1. Expected Deliverables

The expected deliverables from the selected firm/company include:

  • Supply 11 high-quality movable solar-powered irrigation pumps complete with Battery: 12V and 200A with charge controller, 10m of suction Flexible hose pipe (TDH=40m and Q=45L/Min), Solar Panels: 400Wp, Trolley of 2 Wheels with the battery room, Hose pipe of 32mm thick: 100m, 3 Flare Nuts spanners for each kit (Size: 8,10,15).
  • Prepare manuals (Catalogue) for equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Conducting training sessions for farmers on the proper use and benefits of the equipment supplied.

  1. Qualifications and experience

Interested firms/companies should possess:

  • Proven experience in supplying solar-powered irrigation equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing training and technical support.
  • Knowledge of local conditions in the above-mentioned 10 districts.
  1. Timeline:

The supply and installation are expected to be implemented in 8 calendar days

  1. Application

Interested bidders (companies) are invited to submit their offer containing the following documents

  1. Application letter addressed to DUHAMIC-ADRI Executive Secretary.
  2. Copy of the company registration certificate issued by RDB
  3. A valid tax clearance certificate
  4. Proof of using EBM
  5. At least three certificates of good completion for supplying irrigation equipment
  6. A commitment letter from the bidding company confirming completion of the supply and installation within a maximum of 8 calendar days after contract signing, and a provision of a 1-year warranty period.
  7. A financial proposal (quotation) for the supply and installation of all required items, inclusive of transport costs to the sites mentioned above and all applicable taxes.
  1. Safeguarding clause

Safeguarding and protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility who works directly or indirectly with DUHAMIC-ADRI services delivery and operations. All DUHAMIC-ADRI staff and affiliates, including volunteers and Suppliers; sub-Suppliers’ staff and implementing partners are required to adhere to DUHAMIC-ADRI’s full safeguarding and protection policy procedures and the separate Code of Conduct that always values principles of PSEA.

DUHAMIC-ADRI has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and any other form of abuse. Child and vulnerable abuse, exploitation, harassment, discrimination, and human trafficking are strongly prohibited behaviors. All implementing partners/suppliers who are contracting with DUHAMIC-ADRI must adhere to DUHAMIC-ADRI’s full safeguarding and protection policy in addition to the code of conduct.
