Background

The Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG) is a professional organization that brings together specialists to advance quality maternal and reproductive health in Rwanda. To support the effective implementation and coordination of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program, the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG) seek to engage a qualified Resident Program Site Coordinators for the training sites of Gisenyi District Hospital, Ruhengeri L2TH, Kibagabaga L2TH, and Nyamata L2TH. The Site Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day residency activities at assigned training sites, strengthening communication and coordination between residents, faculty, hospital leadership, and RSOG, and ensuring that training delivery aligns with approved academic, clinical, and administrative guidelines. The role will contribute to maintaining the quality of training, supporting resident welfare, and facilitating smooth program implementation in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Resident Program Site Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of residency training activities at the assigned sites
  • Ensure residents follow approved rotation schedules, duty rosters, and training plans
  • Support integration of residency training with routine clinical service delivery
  • Facilitate smooth onboarding and orientation of new residents at the training sites
  • Liaise with site-based faculty and mentors to support structured teaching and supervision
  • Monitor the availability and appropriate use of teaching spaces, learning materials, and clinical exposure opportunities
  • Support and coordinate implementation of mentorship, training, simulation-based learning, and skills-development activities
  • Identify and escalate gaps affecting training quality (e.g. supervision, caseload, learning environment)
  • Serve as the primary focal point between residents, hospital leadership, RSOG, and academic partners
  • Facilitate regular site-level coordination and review meetings
  • Support dissemination of program updates, guidelines, and decisions from RSOG and partners
  • Track resident attendance, rotations, mentorship activities, and key training milestones
  • Compile and submit regular site-level reports to RSOG (monthly/quarterly as required)
  • Document challenges, best practices, and lessons learned from the sites
  • Support data collection for monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement purposes
  • Serve as a first point of contact for residents on site-related concerns
  • Support resolution of operational or administrative challenges affecting residents
  • Escalate welfare, safety, or performance issues through appropriate channels
  • Support engagement with hospital management teams and local partners
  • Support implementation and integration of sexual reproductive health services

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution
  • Registered and licensed with the relevant professional regulatory body in Rwanda
  • Additional training in maternal, neonatal, sexual and reproductive health, clinical education, or health projects is an added advantage
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in nursing or midwifery practice, preferably in maternal, newborn, and reproductive health services
  • Demonstrated experience working in teaching hospitals, residency programs, or clinical training environments
  • Prior experience in program coordination, supervision, mentorship, or training support
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including hospital management, academic institutions, and professional associations
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, residents, and hospital leadership
  • Strong problem-solving and reporting skills
  • Familiarity with competency-based medical education, mentorship models, or clinical training frameworks is an asset
  • Proficiency in English; working knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French is an added advantage
  • Not currently working in public hospital
