JOB PURPOSE
Be the Business Partner for the Supply Chain Leadership Team (including distribution and logistics) and through good understanding of the functional processes ensure effective business decision making.
Increase shareholder value for HEINEKEN by setting and supporting the achievement of financial and non-financial targets in the Supply Chain area within an effective and robust financial control environment.
Context
The Supply Chain Business Controller is an integral member of the Finance Leadership Team, seamlessly embedded within the Controlling Team. Leading a team of two Supply Chain Analysts, this role serves as the primary Finance contact for the Supply Chain Leadership team.
Responsibilities include ensuring cost control, accuracy of both fixed and variable Supply Chain expenses, supporting effective decision-making, and overseeing all Supply Chain-related investments (Capex) and business cases. The Supply Chain Business Controller is actively involved in all phases of the budgeting process.
By fostering strong relationships with Supply Chain teams, the Supply Chain Business Controller drives continuous improvement, mitigates risks, and promotes fact-based decision-making across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Leadership.
- The SC Business Controller leads and mentors the Controlling team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. He/She supports the Analyst’s growth and development through guidance, feedback, and training opportunities.
- He/She drives connectivity across the supply chain and the business controllers and develops a cost culture as well as continuous improvement. Having high ethical standards in all actions, he/she ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
- He/She clearly communicates financial results, risks, and opportunities to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- He/she sets clear goals and expectations, linking everyday activities to the broader company strategy. Encourage innovative thinking and problem solving to address operational challenges.
Business Partnering and Decision Support
- The SC Business Controller acts as a business partner to SC Leadership Team and BRALIRWA senior management, challenging, influencing and providing financial insights and recommendations to drive strategic decision making. He/She fosters a culture of fact-based decision-making throughout the organization.
- He/She builds strong relationships across departments, fostering teamwork and efficient collaboration to achieve business objectives. He/She champions process improvements and change initiatives, motivating the team to embrace new ways of working and supporting effective transitions. Together with Supply Chain Leadership Team, he creates E2E reporting which fosters formulation and execution of E2E strategy.
- He/She provides advice, guidance, and strengthen decision making in Supply Chain, by developing business cases and fund applications, providing scenario modelling, creating cost and efficiency analyses or leading ad hoc analysis to gain insights where relevant.
Planning, budgeting and Forecasting
- The Supply Chain Business Controller supports the business planning cycle of Supply Chain for the 3-year Plan, the Annual Plan and the monthly Rolling Forecasts, including providing relevant challenge to the Supply Chain Leadership Team.
- He/She is in charge of the regular update of Standard Costs to anticipate the evolution of our costs overtime.
Business Performance Management
- The SC Business Controller, with the support of his team, monitors and develops insight on the quantitative and qualitative (financial and non-financial) performance of the Supply Chain function and communicates this insight through a streamlined reporting to SC Management.
- He/She monitors actual cost development vs latest budget and provides early warnings on deviations. Present results to the Supply Chain Management Teams in close collaboration with the Gisenyi Supply Chain Controller. He/She supervises the development of PowerBi reports to automate all cost dashboards.
- He/She actively participates in the Cost Bucket meetings with SC Leadership team to identify new cost saving initiatives (F&F/Productivity)
Control, Compliance and Risk Management
- The SC Business Controller ensures that policies and processes within the Supply Chain Function are updated and applied to limit the risks and ensure the integrity of accounting records and financial information. He/She proposes mitigating actions and flag risks to the Supply Chain Management Teams when necessary.
- He/She leads the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial and operational risks and ensures the proper execution of internal control, in compliance with HEINEKEN policies and regulations (Heirules, Key Control Framework…)
Ensure the correctness of the cost base data
- The Supply Chain Controller is responsible for the correct allocation to relevant accounts & cost centers of all Supply Chain expenses.
- He/She also ensures that the monthly review of all risks related to Supply Chain (stock counts, obsolete items, others…) and potential provisions are done.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics, Management, or related studies.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of working experience in Business Control.
Leadership: At least 2 years in a senior or managerial role.
Languages: Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. French is an added advantage.
Technical: Business Analytics, Strategic and scenario thinking, good relationship
