About Kivu Choice:

Kivu Choice is Rwanda’s largest protein producer and one of the fastest-growing aquaculture companies in Africa. Founded in 2022, Kivu Choice is the sister company to Victory Farms, East Africa’s leading aquaculture platform based in Kenya. The company operates a fully vertically integrated aquaculture model, encompassing hatchery operations, cage-based grow-out, processing, distribution, and sales. Kivu Choice is also one of the country’s largest employers with over 750 employees, and plans to grow to 1,200 employees within the next three years, reflecting its strong commitment to job creation and inclusive economic development. Over the next five years, Kivu Choice aims to scale into Africa’s largest and most sustainable protein producer, producing and distributing 30,000 tons of fish annually for the Rwandan market and for export across the region.

Job Purpose:

The Supply Chain Director is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, leading, and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain across the organization. This includes oversight of warehousing, logistics of feed and fish, local and international Procurement, and fleet operations. Key Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Build scalable systems and processes to support expansion of the farms, hatcheries, and Sales operations.

Warehousing & Inventory Management (Feeds & Inputs)

  • Oversee all warehouse operations, with a focus on feed storage, handling, and distribution.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.
  • Implement robust inventory control systems (FIFO/FEFO, cycle counts, loss prevention).
  • Drive improvements in warehouse layout, efficiency, and safety standards.

Logistics & Distribution (Cold Chain & Dry Goods)

  • Lead the design and execution of logistics operations across logistics centers and distribution networks.
  • Ensure efficient and reliable delivery of products while maintaining cold chain integrity.
  • Optimize routing, load planning, and last-mile delivery to reduce costs and improve service levels.
  • Establish KPIs for on-time delivery, cost per ton, and product loss rates.

Procurement (Local & International)

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of feeds, equipment, spare parts, and operational inputs.
  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and contracts to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee international procurement processes including imports, shipping, and customs clearance.
  • Develop procurement strategies to mitigate risks such as price volatility and supply disruptions.

Fleet Management

  • Oversee the performance, maintenance, and utilization of the company's fleet.
  • Ensure effective preventive maintenance systems to maximize uptime and asset life.
  • Optimize fleet allocation and scheduling to support operational demands.
  • Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and fleet efficiency metrics.

Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
