CEO – Tea Business – Rwanda
Millar Cameron is working with a tea business in Rwanda to recruit a Chief Executive Officer. The CEO will be responsible for the company’s growth plans and should join with strong experience and knowledge of the tea industry. Based in Rwanda, Kigali, the Chief Executive Officer’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Implementing the company’s strategy and overseeing all the operational, finance, and marketing functions.
• Strategically plan the company’s short and longer plan growth for both factories and fields.
• Building and motivating the management team and setting objective targets to drive productivity improvement, quality of produce, and cost control to achieve company goals.
• Representing the company as the key liaison with government ministries, associations, and other relevant stakeholders and industry bodies.
• Developing B2C channels through value additions into the business as well as exploring and developing a tea tourism channel.

The desired candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree and MBA or advanced degree in the areas of agribusiness, finance, or a business-related field preferably.
• Experience working with the private sector in a senior level position with at least 8-10 years preferably in the tea business and management experience including personnel and financial management.
• Experience in direct technical expertise in a functional area of tea (field, factory, end market) in Sub-Saharan Africa is preferred.
• Experience working in a business that has smallholder and out-grower schemes.
• A self-starter with the ability to think strategically, lead, work independently and be open-minded, but with a strong commercial and practical focus.

Chief Technology Officer

Irembo are a Rwandan high growth technology company who use digital platforms to connect customers to government services and businesses across Rwanda. Irembo are a partner of the Rwandan government to deliver public services using digital solutions and they want to introduce this service across all African governments. They are also building a payment platform to facilitate transactions across Africa.

The Role

They are searching for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) who will be responsible for managing software development, IT infrastructure, and IT security across the organisation. This role sits at C-Suite level and you will report into CEO Faith Keza and the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for turning the Irembo vision and strategy into a roadmap to be developed and delivered by the technology division. You will be responsible for delivering key milestones on time and on budget.
  • Carry overall responsibility for the technology behind Irembo’s digital platform making improvements and implementations.
  • Responsible for team management of the Technology department with 3 direct reports for Head of Functions. You will continue to drive the team’s dynamic and open culture, focus on learning & development through coaching. Lead organisational planning for the technology division including team structures and identify gaps.
  • You will lead audits of the current IT processes and systems and make recommendations for improvement. Create a policy of continuous improvement of the existing tech stack.
  • You will communicate the technological capabilities of Irembo to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the product roll-out of the digital platform across Africa, implementing product changes where required.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of the technology behind mobile payment product.
  • You will lead and motivate technology projects and programs and act as the figurehead of new product launch in alignment with Irembo’s values and culture.

Background:

You will be a leader in African technology, ideally with experience in Rwanda.

You will be a passionate team manager with demonstrable experience of developing and driving diverse, high performance technical teams.

You will have experience creating and delivering digital strategies and roadmaps with a clear interest in digital transformation.

You will be experienced in managing technological projects, programs and products with a wide range of multi-disciplinary stakeholders.

You will have an understanding of software development, IT infrastructure, digitisation, product and program management and IT security topics.

You will be a flag bearer for Irembo’s culture and values internally and externally. Team management will be in accordance with company culture.
