Job Purpose

  • Developing communication strategies to drive company mission and values.
  • Fostering staff engagement activities to ensure a high level of employees’ motivation, performance and commitment.
  • Ensuring the company remains well-informed about relevant news, media developments, and industry trends to support positive coverage and informed decision-making.
  • Developing a well-defined public relations strategy that effectively enhances the Company’s corporate image and reputation.
  • Managing the company’s communication channels, including social media platforms, official websites, workplace channels to ensure consistent and effective messaging both externally and internally.
  • Managing investor and shareholder activities among other corporate events.

Context

  • Ability  to respond to competing demands from a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Able to work accurately under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage staff expectations and priorities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  1. INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies that align with company strategic vision, values and culture.
  • Drive employee engagement by crafting compelling messaging, campaigns, newsletters, newsbites, intranet content, and leadership communications.
  • Support change management initiatives by communicating key business updates, organizational changes, and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to support internal events, recognition programs, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
  • Measure and report on internal communication effectiveness, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor internal communication platforms, including writing/editing content for workplace to drive employee engagement
  • Review submissions or letters and providing relevant feedback after aligning with the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication Manager.
  1. EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
  • Develop and manage external communications strategies to promote and protect the company’s brand and reputation globally.
  • Craft press releases, annual reports, media statements, speeches, executive thought leadership content, and social media messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and external agencies.
  • Support crisis communication response planning and execution in collaboration with legal and executive teams.
  • Ensure message alignment across all public-facing content, including website, social platforms, investor communications, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage content & correspondences with external audiences through the company’s various communication channels including the website.
  • Manage all external corporate events for investors & shareholders including sponsorships & AGM.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, Journalism, Public Relations field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Corporate Communications preferably in global or multinational environment
  • Proficiency in English, French and Kinyarwanda.
  • Proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda. French is an added advantage.
  • Exceptional written, editing, storytelling and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of digital technologies used in internal and external communications
  • Proven ability to manage both internal and external communications in complex, fast-paced organization
  • Strong diplomacy and interpersonal skills
  • Strong media relations and crisis communication experience.
  • Ability to read and understand financial reports

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to work in multi-cultural, multi-national and multi-lingual organization
  • Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills
  • High level of commitment and working with minimal supervision
  • Must be proactive, reliable and able to pay keen attention to the smallest of details
