Role Overview & Scope
The Country Manager (Rwanda) will lead national business operations and drive market expansion. The successful candidate will initially oversee local OTC trading and treasury operations while establishing the company's market presence, and subsequently lead the operational transition into a fully licensed Payment Service Provider (PSP) in compliance with Rwandan financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Growth & Strategy: Develop and execute the country growth strategy to establish market share and commercial profitability.
- Operations & Treasury: Lead local OTC trading, treasury management, liquidity, and payment processing operations.
- Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with local commercial banks, statutory regulators, merchants, and fintech partners.
- Business Development: Drive merchant acquisition, key account management, and strategic enterprise partnerships.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), Know Your Customer (KYC), and local regulatory frameworks.
- Financial Management: Oversee overall financial performance, departmental budgeting, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership & Service Delivery: Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing Rwandan team while maintaining high customer and merchant satisfaction.
- Product Expansion: Support the rollout and market adoption of innovative digital payment products and financial services.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Sales and Marketing, Information Systems, Law, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or executive management role.
- Industry Background: Strong preference for experience within FinTech, banking, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), treasury, OTC trading, or digital payments.
- Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of treasury/liquidity management, business development, financial management, AML/CFT, KYC, and local risk management frameworks.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional strategic leadership, commercial negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
