Background

BRAC Rwanda Microfinance Company PLC is registered with Rwanda Development Board in September 2018 and was approved license from National Bank of Rwanda to operate Microfinance and other financial services in Rwanda. BRAC Rwanda is looking for competent, dynamic and self-motivated Rwandans to fill the following regular position.
Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, the Credit Officer will help run the microfinance programme through smooth cash and bank transactions and record keeping, including client mobilization, group formation, loan disbursement, and loan recovery in the assigned working area.
Major Duties and Responsibilities of Credit Officer:
- Conduct household surveys using mobile app/tab-based application while opening a new branch, identify potential clients, form groups and provide orientation for group members.
- Arrange admission of new members if a group becomes too small; conduct two to three group meetings per day.
- Provide financial education to group members as per organizational policy.
- Collect savings and weekly instalments from small group leaders.
- Fill all loan data such as loan applications, guarantor forms, DP Notes etc. in the digital system.
- Attend weekly/bi-weekly/monthly group meetings and ensure recovery of loan instalments.
- Deposit collected money promptly and follow safety and security guidelines while transporting money.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Strive to provide the best quality service to clients, both in the field and at the branch office.
- Listen to clients' complaints/concerns/opinions carefully and take appropriate measures.
- Follow BRAC's safeguarding policy, acting responsibly to protect clients and colleagues from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation, and report any safeguarding concerns as per procedure.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Effective communication skills.
- Writing and reporting skills in English.
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and the Internet.
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, Management or any other related field.
Experience:
At least 2 years' experience in a relevant field of Microfinance. This experience will be verified by a work certificate provided by the candidate.
