A Partner in Education (APIE) is a UK-registered charity operating in Rwanda, working to develop and share a model of quality, inclusive education. At the heart of our work is our pilot project, Umubano Academy (UA), where we have an exciting opportunity for an ICT Project Officer to join our vibrant and friendly team and help us deliver our vision of quality education for all.
As our ICT Project Officer, you will be supporting APIE to implement a rewarding new program funded by the UK Government: The Enhancing Quality Instruction for Pre-primary (EQUIP) project; which aims to improve Early Childhood Education by developing the professional skills of pre-primary teachers. This program is based on an eCourse, which comprises written guidance, online components, various asynchronous discussion forums, and feedback gathered through reports and evaluations. Other supporting aspects of the project include on-going monitoring and evaluation with comprehensive reporting requirements at designated intervals and effective interactive high-quality training. .

Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Attend field visits across three rural districts and assist with the on-site and off-site setup of training facilities including all required equipment and associated resources for the efficient implementation of the training session
• Assist prior to and during training with trouble-shooting hardware and software issues, technical assistance (on a range of devices), distribution and collection of training feedback data
• Carry out data collection activities including digitization of non-digital submissions, data cleaning, and analysis in order to contribute to qualitative and quantitative report writing
• Assist with maintenance, edits, changes, and testing of the course content
• Monitor, maintain and provide ICT support for the online and offline components of the course materials
• Contribute to the creation of a comprehensive cross-referenced multi-media knowledge base by populating content based on feedback received during training sessions and help calls logged
• Manage various support channels open for technical and help-desk queries related to eCourse, hardware and software assistance
• Monitor, track, and follow-up on the submission of feedback and reports received
• Monitor the submission and completion of online final assessments and maintain records of certification eligibility
• Provide any other technical support as needed, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems, researching useful and relevant tools and making recommendations for improved workflows and processes


What we need from you (essential):
• A demonstrable broad range of ICT skills with proven practical experience
• ICT certification to support practical experience
• Good understanding of networking
• Good working knowledge of a variety of IT hardware and software application
• Knowledge of HTML with CSS and JavaScript
• Familiarity with any other current web technologies
• Proven understanding of the SDLC, project management principles and methodologies
• Working knowledge of the principles of M&E, data collection, and analysis tools
• Knowledge of eCourse creation and offline content sharing solutions
• Ability to work pro-actively alone and also collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and analytic skills
• Strong work and customer service ethic
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills (English and Kinyarwanda)


What we’d like from you (desirable):
• Academic qualification in ICT or other related fields
• Experience of working with international organizations (e.g. INGO, embassy, UN and Government)
• Experience in research and data collection
