Job responsibilities
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
Inspect and maintain hospital buildings, plumbing, electrical systems, windows, doors, and non-biomedical equipment (e.g. generators, water pumps).
Conduct routine preventive maintenance as per schedule to avoid breakdowns.
Perform repairs of broken or malfunctioning components (e.g. lighting systems, toilets, water tanks, power outlets).
Infrastructure Monitoring
Regularly check the hospital infrastructure for safety, cleanliness, and structural soundness.
Report and document any infrastructure issues that require repair or upgrade.
Installation and Upkeep
Assist in the installation of new electrical and mechanical systems (e.g. fans, sockets, piping).
Ensure proper setup and maintenance of non-clinical assets such as furniture, storage cabinets, office equipment, etc.
Water and Power Systems Management
Monitor and maintain hospital water supply systems, solar systems, and generators.
Ensure emergency power backup systems are functional and regularly tested.
. Support for Emergency Situations
Respond promptly to infrastructure-related emergencies (e.g. power cuts, leaks, blocked drainage).
Provide technical support during disasters (e.g. securing structures, handling flooding issues).
Documentation and Reporting
Keep accurate maintenance logs, service schedules, and incident reports.
Contribute to inventory control for maintenance tools, spare parts, and consumables.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure all work is done in accordance with health and safety regulations and hospital procedures.
Participate in fire safety drills, and help maintain emergency exits and fire equipment.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with hospital departments, suppliers, and external contractors.
Advise management on infrastructure needs, improvements, and potential risks.
