Responsibilities or duties
Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, the Assistant Lecture is responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction, preparing lesson plans and teaching materials, and assessing students' performance. He/She supports curriculum development, participates in academic activities, and ensures effective students engagement and learning outcomes in line with institutional academic standards.
- Teach three English modules per trimester in line with university standards
- Establishment, operationalization, and day-to-day management of the University Language Center
- Deliver blended learning using face-to-face and online platforms (Canvas/Moodle)
- Prepare teaching materials, assessments, and ensure timely grading and feedback
- Participate in curriculum review and development for language programs
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement of teaching content
- Coordinate language activities across campuses with the Language Coordinator
- Support establishment and daily operations of the University Language Center
- Supervise and support language clubs and student language activities
- Provide academic support to part-time lecturers using e-learning systems
- Set and maintain office hours to support student academic needs
- Handle student complaints in coordination with the Language Coordinator
- Contribute to staff development and training activities in the Language Center
- Ensure compliance with university policies and academic standards
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Master's Degree in Education with strong English/Language specialization
- Qualified for the rank of Assistant Lecturer
- Strong proficiency in English (oral and written)
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms (Canvas/Moodle)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate across departments
- Planning and organizational skills
- Problem-solving and adaptability
- Commitment to quality teaching and continuous improvement
- High ethical standards and professionalism
Experience needed
Proven experience in teaching English at higher learning institution (experience in curriculum delivery and blended learning preferred)
Experience in curriculum development and academic quality assurance is an added advantage
