As part of its expansion and mechanisation programme, U.H Mining Company Ltd invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated professionals to fill the position of Mining Engineer (7 Positions).
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will be responsible for:
- Planning, coordinating and supervising underground and surface mining operations.
- Preparing mine development plans, production schedules and operational reports.
- Monitoring daily production targets and ensuring efficient mineral extraction.
- Designing and implementing drilling and blasting programmes.
- Ensuring compliance with mining legislation, environmental regulations and occupational health and safety standards.
- Coordinating ventilation, ground support and mine infrastructure activities.
- Conducting mine inspections and recommending operational improvements.
- Working closely with Geologists, Surveyors, Processing Engineers and Maintenance teams.
- Assisting in the implementation of mechanised mining systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervising mining crews and contractors.
- Preparing technical reports and production forecasts.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from a recognised university.
- Minimum of three (3) years' relevant mining experience (underground mining experience is an added advantage).
- Knowledge of mine planning and production software.
- Good understanding of drilling, blasting, ventilation and mine safety.
- Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in remote mining locations.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Good proficiency in both Kinyarwanda and English. Proficiency in French is an added advantage.
