Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced People and Culture Manager to lead and professionalize our human resources function. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving a high-performance culture across the organization, ensuring accountability, and supporting our team as we scale. A strong background in performance management, policy implementation, compliance, and team development is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Management and Accountability

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the company’s performance management system
  • Lead quarterly and annual performance appraisal cycles
  • Support line managers in setting clear KPIs and goals for their teams
  • Drive consequence management processes in line with company policy
  • Monitor follow-through of performance improvement plans (PIPs)

HR Policy and Compliance

  • Review, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures across all sites
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal guidelines
  • Conduct regular HR audits to identify risks and ensure standards are upheld

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Lead the recruitment process for key roles across departments
  • Develop a strong talent pipeline in line with SOUK’s growth strategy
  • Oversee effective onboarding of new hires to ensure smooth integration

Staff Welfare and Employee Relations

  • Serve as the point of contact for employee grievances, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters
  • Build positive employee relations and champion a values-driven culture
  • Design and manage staff welfare programs, team-building activities, and employee engagement initiatives

Training and Development

  • Conduct regular training needs assessments in collaboration with department heads
  • Roll out learning and development initiatives to strengthen leadership and technical capacity
  • Build management capabilities around team supervision and people development

HR Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate HR records, staff files, and compliance documents
  • Provide regular reports to management on workforce trends, turnover, and key HR metrics
  • Lead digitalization of HR processes and systems where relevant

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification is a strong advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR role, preferably in the agriculture, manufacturing, or FMCG sector
  • Proven expertise in performance management systems, employee relations, and policy implementation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • High emotional intelligence with a hands-on approach to managing people and processes
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is required
