The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Reception Intern to support daily operations at the Ubuntu Global Faculty Centre. The intern will play a critical role in managing guest accommodations and upholding the Centre’s five-star hospitality standards. This includes overseeing room bookings, check-ins/check-outs, cleanliness, guest services, event coordination, and supervision of cleaning staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary receptionist and point of contact for all guests and visitors at the Ubuntu Global Faculty Centre.
- Manage room bookings and maintain an updated reservation calendar.
- Provide accurate information regarding housing facilities, campus services, and local amenities.
- Coordinate guest check-in and check-out processes efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all guest rooms, common areas, and surrounding grounds are maintained to five-star hotel standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of housekeeping staff (both interior and exterior).
- Provide campus tours and orientation for arriving guests and faculty.
- Manage the scheduling, setup, and cleanliness of meeting rooms and event spaces.
- Support the planning and smooth execution of events held at the Centre.
- Track and report maintenance issues or service gaps to relevant departments.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, room inspections, and housekeeping requests.
- Support inventory checks for front desk supplies and report shortages.
- Maintain strong communication and coordination with hospitality, facilities, and operations teams.

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluency in English required (French or Kinyarwanda is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level customer service.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage priorities under minimal supervision.
- Previous internship or work experience in hospitality, front desk operations, or event coordination preferred.
- A proactive, detail-oriented attitude with a passion for creating excellent guest experiences.
