ABOUT THE MOYO CENTER
The Moyo Center is a Rwanda-based organization working to strengthen inclusive education through teacher training, professional development, research, curriculum development and community building. Our goal is to help create educational environments where children with disabilities, including children with autism and other learning and developmental differences, can meaningfully learn, participate and thrive.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a passionate, experienced and highly practical Teacher Trainer – Inclusive Education to join our growing team. The successful candidate will help design and deliver professional development for teachers, coach educators in partner schools, support demonstration classrooms and contribute to the development of The Moyo Center’s long-term teacher-training model.
This is an opportunity for an educator who is not only an excellent teacher, but also enjoys coaching other teachers, developing practical resources, observing classrooms, giving constructive feedback and helping schools turn training into everyday practice.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Teacher Trainer will strengthen the knowledge, skills and confidence of teachers to support learners with diverse educational needs. The role combines training, classroom coaching, mentoring, resource development and continuous learning.
The successful candidate will help The Moyo Center move beyond one-off workshops toward a practical, sustainable model in which teachers receive training, apply new strategies in their classrooms, receive coaching and continuously improve their practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teacher Training & Professional Development
- Design and deliver engaging, practical training sessions for teachers and school staff.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, coaching sessions and professional learning communities.
- Adapt training to different levels of teacher experience and school contexts.
- Use demonstrations, case studies, classroom simulations and hands-on activities.
2. Inclusive Education Practice
- Support teachers in areas including differentiated instruction, inclusive classroom management, individualized learning, classroom accommodations, positive behavior support, communication, assessment and strategies for learners with autism and other disabilities.
3.Coaching & Mentoring
- Observe classrooms and provide constructive, practical feedback.
- Coach teachers as they implement new strategies.
- Model effective inclusive teaching practices.
- Help teachers identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Follow up after training to assess implementation and provide additional support.
4. Curriculum & Training Material Development
- Contribute to teacher-training curricula, presentations, handouts and classroom resources.
- Contextualize international best practices for Rwanda.
- Improve training content using teacher feedback, classroom experience and evidence.
5. Demonstration Classrooms & Learning
- Support the development of model inclusive classrooms.
- Demonstrate effective instructional strategies alongside teachers.
- Document promising practices, lessons learned and challenges.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning activities.
6. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with teachers, school leaders, families and education stakeholders, while representing The Moyo Center professionally in schools, meetings and training activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
- Rwandan buy nationality,
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Inclusive Education or a related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in teaching, teacher training, special education or inclusive education.
- Demonstrated experience delivering training or professional development to teachers.
- Strong understanding of child-centered and inclusive teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate educational theory into practical classroom strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Strongly preferred
- Experience working with children with autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities or other special educational needs.
- Experience coaching or mentoring teachers ANDExperience developing teacher-training materials.
- Experience within the Rwandan education system, particularly public schools.
- Knowledge of Rwanda’s inclusive education policies and practices.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda
