Position Overview:
The King Faisal Hospital Rwanda Foundation (KFHRF) is supporting Rwanda’s Ministry of Health (MoH) national strategy launched in 2023 to quadruple the healthcare workforce within four years. This initiative aims to meet WHO targets for health worker density, strengthen primary care, improve health education, and expand training for professionals in medicine, nursing, midwifery, and allied sciences. KFHRF plays a key role in managing funding, partnerships, and financial oversight for programs that build a robust and sustainable health system.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the financial operations of KFHRF. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective management of funds supporting the MoH strategy and other Foundation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded in QuickBooks.
- Process supplier invoices and manage payments, prioritizing financial operations related to MoH-supported programs.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for review by the Finance Officer.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, with a focus on funding allocations for workforce development programs.
- Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs, particularly for programs supporting MoH initiatives.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and manage organizational payments.
- Assist with monthly employee tax declarations, ensuring compliance with Rwandan tax regulations.
- Stay updated on tax policies, including tax exemptions, and maintain accurate records for all tax obligations.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation and implementing recommendations to improve financial processes.
- Ensure financial practices align with local regulatory requirements and the Foundation’s policies.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance Officer and Finance Manager to align financial activities with organizational goals.
- Provide administrative support and other duties as required by the finance team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, ideally in a non-profit environment.
- CPA certification required.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Familiarity with grant management and financial reporting for non-governmental organizations.
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda.
