Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe (PFTH) is an umbrella organization of Rwandan Civil Society Organizations dedicated to advancing the status of women, peace, and development. Established in October 1992, PFTH currently represents 52 member organizations across Rwanda.

PFTH’s mission is to eradicate all forms of discrimination against women, promote their socio-economic, political, and legal status, and strengthen the institutional capacities of its member organizations through a sustainable development approach rooted in gender equality, peace, justice, and human rights.

To enhance its capacity, PFTH is seeking a dynamic and skilled Communication Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing PFTH’s visibility, outreach, and impact through strategic communication.

Duty Station:

PFTH Headquarters, Kigali, with frequent travel to upcountry locations.

Contract Type:

Fixed Term (1 year, renewable)

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote PFTH’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Content Creation: Develop engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports, including articles, blog posts, and success stories.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to enhance PFTH’s visibility.
  • Social Media Management: Manage and grow PFTH’s presence on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Website Management: Ensure the website is current, user-friendly, and aligned with branding guidelines.
  • Graphic Design: Create visual content including graphics and infographics to support communication efforts.
  • Event Coordination: Organize events, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness and engage stakeholders.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track and analyze communication effectiveness and provide recommendations.
  • Internal Communication: Ensure staff are informed about key initiatives and organizational updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in communications, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda; knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • Commitment to PFTH’s mission and values.

Skills

  • Excellent writing and editing abilities for diverse audiences.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing trends.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Effective media relations and story pitching skills.
  • Creative and strategic thinking with innovative communication ideas.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
