JOB DESCRIPTION: QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OFFICER (Q.I.O)

Job Title Quality Improvement Officer

Department Quality Assurance Management Unit

Reporting to Director of Quality Assurance Management Unit

Location Kibagabaga Level Two Teaching Hospital

JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate and facilitate the implementation of Rwanda National Hospital Accreditation Standards and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient safety and service excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accreditation Management: Lead the hospital accreditation process by ensuring all departments comply with Level I and Level II standards .

Quality Monitoring: Conduct regular internal audits and self-assessments using the MOH Performance Assessment Toolkit to identify gaps in clinical and non-clinical services. .

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): Facilitate the development and monitoring of Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) across various departments. .

Reporting: Collect and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient safety, maternal/neonatal outcomes, and infection control to inform management decisions. .

Staff Training: Organize workshops and on-the-job training for staff regarding accreditation standards and safety protocols.

Committee Coordination: Serve as a technical secretary or lead for the Quality Improvement Committee, ensuring regular meetings and follow-up on action plans.

Patient Satisfaction: Oversee patient satisfaction surveys and grievance redressal mechanisms to improve customer care.
