EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- He/she must have minimum Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, Environmental Health or related health field
- Having at least Minimum of 5 years working experience in Hospital setting and IPC/WASH implementation
- Postgraduate qualification or formal training in Infection Prevention and Control is an added advantage.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong leadership and coordination skills
- Technical expertise in IPC and patient safety
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Provide strategic leadership for IPC programmes at the hospital.
- Coordinate IPC/WASH activities across hospital departments.
- Serve as the focal point for IPC-related matters, including outbreak preparedness and response.
- Ensure fully functionality of IPC/WASH Committee
- Advise senior management on IPC/WASH risks, gaps, and resource needs
- Develop, review, and update IPC /WASH policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidelines.
- Design and implement IPC training programs for healthcare workers, support staff and Cleaners,
- Ensure alignment with national health policies, WHO guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Support implementation of IPC/WASH standards across the Hospital
- Establish and oversee surveillance systems for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and EMR
- Lead IPC preparedness planning for outbreaks and public health emergencies
- Monitor IPC /WASH compliance through audits, assessments, and performance indicators
- Support mentorship and continuous professional development in IPC/WASH
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability among staff
- Coordinate IPC response during outbreaks, including risk assessment and control measures
- Conduct IPC/WASH Audit and report findings to the Hospital management
- Collaborate with surveillance, laboratory, and public health teams
- Integrate IPC into broader quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Promote best practices in hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, waste management, and PPE use
- Analyse data, prepare reports, and provide evidence-based recommendations
- Support antimicrobial stewardship activities in collaboration with relevant teams
- Prepare regular technical and management reports on IPC performance
- Provide strategic leadership for IPC programmes at the hospital.
