Position Overview
University of Kigali is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Academic Registrar. This senior leadership position will play a crucial role in shaping and promoting the university’s image.
An Academic Registrar (or University Registrar) is a senior higher education executive who manages the institution's academic administration. They oversee student records, course enrollment, graduation processes, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures the accuracy of degrees and upholds the university's academic policies
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Records & Data Management: Safeguards the integrity, confidentiality, and security of student academic records and data systems.
- Registration & Scheduling: Manages the course registration process, class schedules, and room allocations.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensures university policies comply with local and federal educational regulations. Often acts as the secretary for university academic boards.
- Graduation & Commencement: Evaluates students' fulfillment of degree requirements and oversees graduation clearance.
- Policy Development: Collaborates with faculty and deans to continually update and enforce academic regulations.
Typical Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree is typically required; a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is heavily preferred for senior university registrar roles.
- Experience: Extensive leadership experience (often 5 to 10+ years) in higher education administration, enrollment management, or academic affairs.
- Knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

- Administrative Skills: Ability to manage student records, student information systems and academic schedules, and data security.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in transcripts, enrollment data in compliance with the UoK regulations.
- Management: Supervising staff, coordinating across departments, and guiding policy implementation.
