Background
Shagasha Tea Company Ltd is one of Rwanda’s leading tea producers, located in the lush and fertile highlands of Rusizi District, Western Province. The company is dedicated to the cultivation, processing, and marketing of high-quality tea for both local and international markets, is seeking to recruit dynamic, self-motivated, and qualified individuals to fill the following vacant position:
Overall Responsibility
Support the efficient financial management of the tea factory by maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, supporting cost control initiatives, and providing timely financial information that enhances decision-making across tea production, processing, procurement, and field operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with approved accounting policies, financial regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Assist in preparing, monitoring, and controlling factory budgets to ensure efficient utilization of financial resources.
- Analyze factory revenues, expenditures, and operational costs, providing timely reports and recommendations for improved financial performance.
- Prepare and process staff advances, reimbursements, and other payments for factory and field operations in accordance with approved procedures.
- Reconcile cash books, bank accounts, general ledger accounts, supplier accounts, and other financial records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Verify, process, and monitor procurement transactions to ensure purchases are properly authorized, accurately recorded, and comply with company policies.
- Review and authorize stores requisitions within delegated authority while ensuring adequate accountability and proper utilization of factory materials and supplies.
- Support effective inventory management by reconciling stores records with accounting records and participating in periodic stock counts and stock reconciliations.
- Support compliance with company financial policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Verify payment vouchers and supporting documentation before processing to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with approval limits.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing accurate financial information and supporting documentation as required.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements applicable to factory operations.
- Promote sound financial stewardship and continuous improvement in accounting processes within the tea factory.
- Observe and comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), environmental management, and company policies applicable to tea manufacturing operations.
- Report any food safety concerns, hazards, or non-conformities to the Food Safety Team Leader in accordance with the factory's Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
- Report any changes or incidents that may affect food safety, product quality, or regulatory compliance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Factory Accountant or Management in support of factory operations.

Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional Qualifications
- CPA Part II or equivalent professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, Agro-processing, or tea factory environment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Understanding of manufacturing and tea production costing.
- Knowledge of inventory and stores management.
- Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
