Fisher Global’s core agricultural activities include the commercial production and aggregation of chilli, soybeans, maize, and other high-value crops, complemented by agronomic assist, farm management, post-harvest handling, warehousing, and export services. The company has developed particular expertise in the chilli value chain, including the production, processing, quality management, packaging, and export of dried chilli products to international markets.

Fisher Global Ltd is expanding its agricultural and post-harvest operations and invites applications from qualified, motivated, and results-oriented candidates for the following positions:

AGRONOMIST

The Agronomist will deliver technical and field-level assist to ensure improved crop productivity, quality, sustainability, and compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The successful candidate will work closely with farmers, field teams, and other stakeholders to assist crop production and achieve Fisher Global Ltd’s agricultural objectives.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Deliver technical advice on crop production, soil fertility, irrigation, fertilizer application, pest and disease management, and crop protection.
  • Perform regular farm visits to track crop performance and detect production challenges.
  • Train farmers and field teams on modern farming technologies and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Perform field demonstrations, farmer training, and extension activities.
  • Assist out-growers and partner farmers with technical assistance.
  • Track crop establishment, growth, harvesting, and overall production performance.
  • Collect field data and assist yield estimation and production forecasting.
  • Track proper use of agricultural inputs and compliance with company production standards.
  • Assist food safety, traceability, certification, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
  • Produce accurate weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
  • Participate in field trials, research, demonstrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote climate-smart agriculture, soil and water conservation, and environmentally responsible farming.
  • Keep good relationships with farmers, local authorities, cooperatives, and agricultural stakeholders.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a closely related field.
  • Practical experience in crop production, soil fertility, irrigation, fertilizer application, pest and disease management, and crop protection.
  • Experience working directly with farmers, out-growers, cooperatives, or agricultural extension programs.
  • Experience conducting farmer training, field demonstrations, and field visits.
  • Knowledge of GAP, food safety, traceability, and sustainable agriculture.
  • Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and soil and water conservation is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to farms and project sites countrywide.
  • The candidate must be proficient in motorcycle riding and possess a valid motorcycle driving license.
  • Must be 35 years of age or younger.

Experience needed

Having 1–2 years of relevant experience in agronomy, crop production, agricultural extension, farm management, or a related area will be an additional advantage.
