Background
The CPFO is responsible to support HOPE International Church partners by ensuring compliance with Church partner finance guidelines, reviewing financial reports regularly, training Church partner staff (MCs, FCs, Accountants) on financial procedures, and assisting the HOPE Rwanda SGM Administration and Finance Manager in achieving annual goals.
The CPFO is to provide direct support to HOPE International Church partners. This includes ensuring compliance of Church partner Finance guidelines, responsibility of ongoing review financial reporting.
The CPFO is responsible to train Church partners including MC’s, FC’s and Accountant on Church partners finance guidelines. The CPFO is responsible to assist the HOPE Rwanda SGM Administration and Finance Manager (AFM) to achieve or exceed the annual goals for HOPE Rwanda SGM.
Responsibilities
- Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International.
- Monthly review of CP’s financial reports.
- Collecting and filing all related financial supporting documents from CPs.
- Conduct bi-annual compliance visits and support to CPs.
- Intentionally invest in building a strong, God-honoring relationship with Church partners staff.
- Assist the AFM in developing and maintaining excellent, productive and fruitful relationships with HOPE Rwanda SGM ministry and Church Partners.
- Provide CPFG training to CP’staff.
- In all the above, ensure that relationships are marked by HOPE’s Christ-centered values.
- Complete monthly review of Church Partners (CPs) financial reports
- Conduct regular visits to church partners to monitor compliance with HOPE’s church partner financial guidelines and provide reports to the church partner for follow-up.
- Conduct trainings with MC’s, Accountants and FC’s on procedures, Hope chart of Accounts and capacity building to address compliance findings.
- Be familiar with all HOPE International manuals (in addition to CPFG) and ensure compliance is fully executed.
- Assist in refinement and implementation of processes for periodic updates CPFG Manual as weaknesses or inefficiencies are identified
- Assist with the provision of documents and explanations requested by internal and external auditors.
- Follow up on audit findings as assigned, to ensure that management’s audit recommendations are timely implemented.
- Report any suspected incidents of fraud and assist with incident investigation and follow-up
- Contribute to bearing witness to Christ and His Kingdom through who we are, how we work and how we serve the church
- Engage actively in bi-weekly devotions, monthly meetings, and quarterly retreats for HOPE staff to maintain focus on the program’s Christ-centered mission and to foster spiritual growth among HOPE staff and partners.
- Ensure a personal healthy spiritual balance within family, work, and church life through the adoption of Biblical, personal, and spiritual disciplines.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Manager, Country Director or CSU.
Qualifications
- Born again Christian with strong faith and highly committed to the mission and vision of HOPE International.
- Full understanding of the Savings Group Ministry (SGM) and principles
- Passion and ability to self–educate regarding SGM methodologies and systems
- Proficiency with Excel as a tool for data input, reporting, review, and analysis.
- Excellent understanding of cross-cultural communication, workplace relationships, or church relations.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Kinyarwanda.
- Excellent computer-based communication skills
- Highly flexible and creative
- Assertive, self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a team
- Qualifying university degree in Finance, Accounting, Administration, or similar field study
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience, with some experience in finance or audit
