Reporting Structure
Directly reporting to: Head of IT.
Responsibilities
- Support the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of organizational databases to ensure availability, security, reliability, and data integrity.
- Perform routine database operational activities, including backups, restoration, access management, and performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, scripts, procedures, and authorized data extracts when required.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and coordinate with relevant teams or vendors for resolution.
- Support the day-to-day administration and operation of the Core Banking System.
- Configure Core Banking System products, parameters, workflows, user roles, and other approved system settings.
- Investigate and resolve system incidents, transaction errors, data-related issues, and user-reported problems.
- Support system upgrades, integrations, testing, and implementation of approved changes.
- Assist users and business teams with Core Banking System functionality and operational requirements.
- Support reporting, audit, regulatory, and management information requirements.
- Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement system improvements and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for system configurations, database activities, scripts, changes, and operational procedures.
- Ensure all database and system activities comply with the organization’s policies, security standards, and change-management procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Education Required
- Bachelor of Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology or Electronic & Electrical Engineering
Previous Experience Desired
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in database administration, application support, or enterprise system support, preferably within a financial institution.
- Good knowledge of SQL and the ability to develop queries, scripts, procedures, reports, and authorized data extracts.
- General understanding of database management, security, access control, backup, recovery, performance monitoring, and data integrity.
- Experience supporting and configuring enterprise applications; experience with a Core Banking System is a strong advantage.
- Ability to configure system parameters, products, workflows, user roles, and other approved application settings.
- Experience in system troubleshooting, incident resolution, testing, upgrades, integrations, and change implementation.
- Understanding of information security, audit, regulatory compliance, and change-management requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with business users, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Relevant database or application-support certification would be an added advantage.
