Background

Gabiro Agribusiness Hub Ltd (GAH Ltd) is a flagship agribusiness enterprise established through a strategic partnership between the Government of Rwanda and NETAFIM Ltd, a global leader in precision irrigation solutions. Located in Nyagatare District, GAH Ltd is at the forefront of transforming Rwanda’s agricultural sector through large-scale irrigated farming, modern agribusiness infrastructure, and climate-smart agriculture.

The Hub was established to drive agricultural commercialization, enhance food security, promote technology-driven farming, and attract private sector investment into high-value agriculture. Through its integrated irrigation infrastructure and modern farming ecosystem, GAH Ltd aims to position Rwanda as a regional model for sustainable and productive agribusiness development.

As the organization continues to expand its farming operations, GAH Ltd is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented Demo Agronomist to support crop production planning, field management, agronomic practices, and productivity improvement within the Demo Farm.

About the Position

Job Title: Demo Agronomist

Reporting to: Demo Plot Manager

Contract Terms: Open Ended

The Demo Agronomist will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and improving crop production activities at the Demo Farm. The successful candidate will support the implementation of modern agricultural practices, ensure proper crop management, conduct field demonstrations, and provide technical guidance to improve productivity and sustainability.

This position requires a proactive and technically skilled agriculture professional with practical experience in irrigated farming systems, crop production, field trials, and farm data management.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, preferably in Crop Production and Agronomy;

With At least five (5) years of relevant working experience in similar assignments;

Proven experience in indoor farming systems using irrigation (drip irrigation systems is an added advantage);

Experience in seed multiplication and commercialization activities and modern horticultural production systems under drip irrigation applied on at least 100 Ha of land;

• Managing seed production activities for potato, maize, soybean, beans, and horticultural crops;
• Planning and implementing crop and fodder production activities;
• Forecasting crop production in line with market demand;
• Supervising land preparation, planting, seed availability, fertilizer recommendations and application, pest and disease management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling;
• Recommending farming techniques aimed at increasing farm productivity;
• Planning and conducting on-farm trainings related to crop production;
• Conducting trials and assessments related to nutritional deficiencies, diseases, and crop performance;
• Implementing crop disease prevention, control, and adaptation measures;
• Collaborating with the Irrigation Technician to develop irrigation schedules;
• Do weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
• Recording the data related inputs, production and sales
• Accepting to live near the Demo Farm located at Karushuga.
• Performing any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
