Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)

The national industrial research and development agency (NIRDA) is seeking to fill the position of Driver. This is a Level 10.II position with 2 posts available under contract.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Complete appropriate tripsheets as required by line manager to record officially each transport.
  • Effective communicates with dispatch recording schedule progress and receive instructions.
  • Ensure that there is availability of all the required documents/suppliers including vehicle insurance.
  • Ensure the road safety compliance.
  • Inform logistics officer of any major repairs to be carried out.
  • Maintain a professional image and attitude in regards to the staff.
  • Safeguard all vehicle accessories (e.g. Jack, First aid kit, tools, etc.).
  • Maintain cleanness of the vehicles.
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services.
  • Report accident or other emergency facts.
  • Solve minor technical problems for vehicles.
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

The job requires the ability to complete tripsheets, communicate effectively with dispatch, ensure vehicle documentation and road safety compliance, report repairs and incidents, maintain a professional image, safeguard vehicle accessories, keep vehicles clean, provide reliable driving services, and solve minor technical problems.

Experience needed

Experience in driving and related tasks is implied by the responsibilities.

Exams to be conducted include Psychometric Test, Written, and Oral. The position reports to the Director of Administration & Finance Unit.
