King Faisal Hospital Kigali is looking for suitable candidate to fill the following positions.
Qualifications or Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- He/she must have minimum Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health sciences.
- He/she must have Minimum of 2 years working experience in the Hospital setting in IPC/WASH implementation
- Strong knowledge of national IPC standards, WHO IPC guidelines, and WASH FIT methodologies.
- Experience in WASH, environmental health, IPC, or community health programs is an added advantage.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of national public health and environmental health policies and guidelines.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and reporting skills.
- Strong technical skills in IPC and WASH
- Facility-level problem solving
- Capacity building and mentorship
- Data use for decision-making
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH improvement plans within the Facility
- Monitor and support safe water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices in Health facility.
- Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments of water sources, sanitation systems, and hygiene practice
- Support health facility in implementing IPC and WASH standards to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).
- Participate in IPC/WASH facility assessments and follow-up actions.
- Promote hand hygiene and safe sanitation practices through community engagement and facility-based interventions
- Support outbreak preparedness and response through environmental health interventions.
- Collaborate with IPC Manager to strengthen surveillance, monitoring, and compliance.
- Conduct environmental health inspections of the health facility,
- Support solid and liquid waste management, including healthcare waste segregation, treatment, and final disposal.
- Monitor environmental risks related to pollution, vector breeding, and unsafe housing conditions.
- Identify and mitigate environmental risk factors contributing to disease outbreaks
- Inspect food premises to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Provide guidance and education to food handlers on safe food preparation, storage, and handling practices.
- participate in foodborne disease surveillance and outbreak investigations.
- Support vector surveillance and control activities to reduce transmission of vector-borne diseases.
- Conduct community sensitization and health education on environmental health, sanitation, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Promote behavior change communication related to environmental health risks.
- Collect, analyze, and report environmental health and WASH data using approved tools and systems.
- Monitor routing and general Environmental Cleaning and disinfection
- Ensure proper linens and linens managements
- Prepare routine activity reports and submit timely updates to supervisors and relevant authorities.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and challenges to inform planning and policy decisions.
- Participate in public health emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
- Support outbreak investigations and emergency WASH and environmental health interventions as required.
- Advise KFH managers on cost-effective, sustainable, and climate-resilient WASH and medical waste management infrastructure solutions.
- Submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the supervisor
- Perform any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor
