Kilimo Trust (KT) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that specializes in the design and implementation of sustainable agribusiness solutions in Rwanda and across East Africa. Over the past 21 years, Kilimo Trust has worked collaboratively with public and private sector actors to co-develop interventions that enhance farm productivity, improve post-harvest management, expand access to finance, support access to renewable energy solutions and soil regenerative products, and promote access to improved technologies for farmers and private companies. These efforts aim to increase incomes for smallholder farmers and create employment opportunities for youth and women.
Kilimo Trust (KT) is seeking to recruit Field-Based Associates (FBAs) to support the Kilimo Trust team in the effective implementation of interventions that assist farmers, private companies, women, and youth to:
Responsibilities or duties
- Access employable skills and business development services.
- Improve crop and livestock productivity.
- Access infrastructure and machinery for production, post-harvest management, and compost production.
- Link farmers with technology and machinery providers.
- Engage companies to source produce from farmers.
- Support due diligence activities for partners benefiting from matching grants.
- Provide periodic updates on conducted activities and achieved results.
- Ensure timely reporting of project activities in adherence to the work plan.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Production, Animal Production and Rural Development.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with district officials and partners.
- Willingness and ability to be stationed in a district outside Kigali.
- Ability in use of digital platforms for communication and visibility (X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram) to support communication, coordination and visibility of organizational activities.
Experience needed
- A minimum of two (2) years of practical experience working with farmer cooperatives, agribusiness companies, input providers, providers of equipment and machinery in agribusiness, or other relevant stakeholders in agricultural value chains.
