The AWF Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining AWF’s accounting, ensuring that all guidelines, procedures and routines of AWF in the areas of finance are followed so as to provide effective support for all AWF's program activities at Kigali office. He/she will support the Finance department, Project Coordinators and Executive Director in recording and retrieving financial details of the organization, including maintaining financial records, processing payments and cash handling.
The Finance Officer will also provide support in setting up Administration and Human Resources Systems for a newly established organization.

Under direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Finance Officer will be responsible to:

  • Assume responsibility for making payments are required by check, bank transfer in accordance with the guidelines outlined within the AWF finance manual
  • Record systematically and regularly all transactions in QuickBooks system with speed and accuracy
  • Maintain cashbook for bank accounts; verifying receipt of supplies
  • Attach relevant supporting documents to all vouchers for payment
  • Update regularly check book register
  • Filling for all financial documents
  • Addressing all issues of a finance nature and providing all relevant information to meet demands
  • Assist in the production of financial statements and applications, preparation of spreadsheets, reports and correspondence as required
  • Perform monthly bank& cash reconciliation


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance
  •  3 years working experience in finance and/or accounting function,
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting software QuickBooks is mandatory
  • Demonstrating understanding how to manage grants
  • Excellent written and spoken Kinyarwanda, English and or French
  • Ability to use computer to access information and prepare report
  • Ability to maintain effective working relations both as a team member and ability to establish priorities and work plan
