About the Apprenticeship
Structured 6-month apprenticeship for a construction graduate to develop into a foundation-and-civil-works specialist for WAR's INUMAâ„¢ minigrid tanks, filter housings, and control kiosks. You will work under the Foundation Specialist on real pours at real sites.
Career path:
Apprentices who consistently exceed expectations throughout the 6 months may be promoted to Junior Foundation Officer with the full Officer-level package.
Who We're Looking For
Education:
TVET diploma or certificate in Building & Construction, Civil Engineering, or Masonry (RTB/WDA-recognised).
Experience:
Recent graduate (0–1 year) or about-to-graduate within 3 months.
Trade Foundation:
Concrete work, formwork, or masonry experience. Bonus for survey levelling instruments (dumpy level, laser level).
Field Ready:
Comfortable spending 5–10 nights on rural sites at a time.
Key Result Areas
- Site preparation — Set out, excavate, and prepare foundations for tanks, filter housings, control kiosks.
- Concrete works — Mix, place, and cure to WAR quality standards.
- Formwork & reinforcement — Build formwork, cut and bend rebar, assemble reinforcement cages.
- Quality & measurement — Level, square, verify every foundation; photo record every pour.
Apprenticeship Terms (fixed — non-negotiable)
- Duration: 6 months from start date
- Monthly Stipend: RWF 150,000 net take-home / month
- Other Benefits During Apprenticeship: None
- At Successful Completion: Promotion to Junior Foundation Officer (full package) — only for apprentices who consistently exceed expectations
- If Performance Bar Not Met: Apprentice not retained at end of 6 months
