The Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) is seeking a Legal Researcher.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Conduct legal research on issues relevant to the justice sector and other areas of national priority assigned to the Institute.
  • Participate in the design, planning, and implementation of research and consultancy assignments undertaken by the Institute.
  • Review and analyse national legislation, policies, case law, international legal instruments, and comparative legal frameworks to support research activities undertaken by the Institute.
  • Prepare legal analyses, research papers, policy briefs, concept notes, and technical reports.
  • Participate in the development of research methodologies, data collection tools, and analytical frameworks for research assignments.
  • Analyse qualitative and legal data and contribute to the preparation of research findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Identify and pursue research and consultancy opportunities by monitoring public tenders, calls for proposals, and funding opportunities.
  • Participate in research proposals, technical proposals, and expressions of interest in response to consultancy and research opportunities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals for research projects.
  • Support the development and periodic review of ILPD's research agenda and contribute to strengthening the Institute's research portfolio.
  • Contribute to the publication and dissemination of research outputs and other legal knowledge products.
  • Perform any other research-related duties assigned by the supervisor or the Institute's Management.
