The primary purpose of the IoT & Smart City Specialist is to:
Responsibilities or duties
- Lead the implementation of Rwanda smart city master plan;
- Oversee smart city technologies selection, best practices, identifying common frameworks to accelerate the adoption of IoT to accelerate the development of efficient, and scalable smart city solutions;
- Manage the deliverables of all smart city projects including costs, resources, and solution providers/vendors;
- Drive and increase adoption of IoT in various sectors as detailed in the smart city master plan;
- Take a pro-active approach in identifying potential issues, recommend, and implement pre-emptive solutions before the issues arise;
- Keep abreast of any latest technology and smart city trends, and any updates in statutory rulings that may affect smart city master plan implementation;
- Review of the smart city proposals and provide guidance;
- Translate the institution’s (CoK) services and technical discussions into detailed functional and non-functional requirements;
- Research, build, test, and document state-of-the-art IoT solutions with integrated electronics and firmware development;
- Execute testing of IoT pilot solutions;
- Effectively communicate and work closely with other smart city stakeholders;
- Prepare and support in smart city projects’ budgeting and concept notes development;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
