Job Purpose:
The Junior Geologist supports geological exploration and mining operations by assisting in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis. This role provides practical experience in mineral resource evaluation and helps develop the technical skills necessary for a career in geology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing geological mapping, sampling, and core logging.
- Collect and record geological and geochemical data from exploration and mining sites.
- Understanding the grades changes happening to the ground
- Ensuring the QAQC data are collected as they should be taken
- Support exploration programs and site surveys under the guidance of senior geologists.
- Help maintain accurate records of geological observations and laboratory results.
- Prepare basic maps, charts, and reports for review by senior geologists.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards during fieldwork.
- Participate in team meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.
- Learn and apply geological software tools such as Micromine.
Performs any other task/s required by his/her Superior or and Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in mining, exploration, or geological fieldwork
- Basic understanding of ore deposits, rock formations, and mining operations.
- Familiarity with geological mapping techniques and data recording.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to geological software is an advantage.
Competencies:
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical geological skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in challenging fields and remote environments.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office and fieldwork at mining and exploration sites.
- May involve travel to remote or underground locations.
