We are hiring for several teaching positions at Iwacu Academy. We are looking for dedicated and passionate educators to join our team.
Job Summary
The Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction that promotes students' academic, social, emotional, and physical development. The role involves creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that inspires learners to achieve their full potential while supporting the school's mission of inspiring the head, heart, and hands.
Teachers are expected to foster student engagement, maintain effective classroom management, promote positive values, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the school community.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning resources.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assess, evaluate, and monitor student learning and academic progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to learners.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Integrate appropriate teaching technologies and innovative instructional strategies where applicable.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Promote discipline, respect, and positive student behaviour.
- Manage classroom routines effectively to maximize learning time.
- Safeguard the welfare and well-being of all learners.
- Encourage student participation and active engagement in learning.
Student Development
- Support the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of students.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic or pastoral support.
- Encourage student confidence, leadership, and responsible citizenship.
- Promote values that reflect the school's vision and mission.
Assessment & Reporting
- Prepare, administer, and mark assessments, assignments, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
- Prepare student progress reports and communicate performance to parents or guardians.
- Monitor learner achievement and recommend appropriate interventions where necessary.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Work closely with school leadership to support academic excellence and student success.
Professional Development
- Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Keep up to date with developments in education and subject specialization.
- Continuously improve teaching practices through reflection and ongoing learning.
School Responsibilities
- Participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Supervise learners during school activities, trips, and events where required.
- Support school initiatives, policies, and strategic objectives.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or School Administration.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Education or a relevant teaching field.
- Valid teaching qualification or certification recognized by the relevant education authority.
- Specialization in the relevant subject area for the position applied for.
- Previous teaching experience is an added advantage.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language proficiency may be required depending on the teaching position.
