Background
Africa Global Logistics Rwanda Limited, a company duly incorporated under the laws of Rwanda and its offices at Kigali Special Economic Zone, P.O.Box 1338, Kigali, Rwanda is specialised in transport and logistics.
As a Local Data Steward, you help ensure that local master data is accurate, reliable, and compliant with the MDM governance framework. You play a key role in supporting users, improving data quality, and contributing to efficient data processes across the organization.
Main tool: UNIFY
Scope: Local Data Stewarding and Data Maintenance, with a contribution to the Africa MDM strategy, particularly on compliance-related data topics.
Key responsibilities
A. Supporting users and managing data requests
- Act as a first point of contact for end users by receiving, reviewing, and processing requests related to the creation or update of AGL parties.
- Ensure that information is accurately recorded and maintained in UNIFY, including: Creation or update of AGL parties; Creation or update of AGL accounting codes.
- Review third-party data requests to help ensure that data is reliable, complete, and ready to be used by the business. Key checks include: Uniqueness; Completeness; Accuracy.
- Make sure that the relevant parties are correctly broadcast to the compliance screening tool, so that required controls can be performed on time.
B. Maintaining reliable local data
- Ensure day-to-day maintenance of related parties in line with data governance rules and defined standards.
- Follow the relevant KPIs and contribute to improvement actions to strengthen the quality and reliability of master data.
- Identify, review, and clean obsolete or non-compliant data to keep the database accurate and useful for business needs.
- Raise ambiguous situations, data inconsistencies, or requests requiring clarification to the Central Data Steward for guidance or arbitration.
- Keep users informed about UNIFY usage, updates, and changes to support smooth adoption and consistent ways of working.
C. Scope of the role
- The role focuses primarily on the local scope and supports local teams in applying MDM rules and data quality practices.
- Depending on the organization and business needs, the role may also contribute to MDM activities across the Africa region and several Business Units.
D. Working with key stakeholders
- Work closely with the Compliance Team of the Kigali Expertise Center, the Global Data Owner, and the Central Data Steward MDM teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and compliance across data processes.
Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Business Administration, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Master Data Management (MDM), Data Governance, SAP Master Data.
Experience
- 2–4 years of professional experience in Master Data Management, Data Administration, or a related operational function.
- Previous experience maintaining master data (Business Partners, Vendors, Customers, Accounting Codes, or similar reference data).
- Experience working within data governance policies and standardized business processes.
- Experience supporting end users through ticketing or request management systems.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional and international teams is an advantage.
- Working proficiency in French is considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) principles.
- Ability to work with data management platforms i.e MDM tools.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data validation, filtering, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Familiarity with workflow tools and ticket management systems.
- Basic understanding of data quality concepts: Accuracy, Completeness, Consistency, Uniqueness, Timeliness.
- Understanding compliance and third-party data management processes would be an advantage.
