Background
Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe (PFTH) is an umbrella organization of Rwandan Civil Society Organizations dedicated to advancing the status of women, peace, and development. Established in October 1992, PFTH currently represents 52 member organizations across Rwanda.
PFTH’s mission is to eradicate all forms of discrimination against women, promote their socio-economic, political, and legal status, and strengthen the institutional capacities of its member organizations through a sustainable development approach rooted in gender equality, peace, justice, and human rights.
To enhance its capacity, in partnership with Jhpiego and Rwanda BioMedical Centre (RBC) PFTH is seeking a dynamic and skilled 2 (two) Malaria Field officers to join its team in Northern Province.
Duty Station:
One of the Health Centre in the Northern Province with frequent travel to the field especially in Malaria hotspots.
Contract Type:
Fixed Term : 9 months, renewable upon availability of funds
Summary Scope of Work
The Malaria field officer supports malaria prevention, case management, and community-based malaria surveillance at district, sector, and community levels. They work closely with health facilities, Community Health Workers (CHWs), and district health teams to improve identification and response to malaria hotspots across Northern Province.
Reporting to the Malaria Provincial Coordinator ensures timely implementation of malaria activities, strengthens community and facility capacity, supports data-driven hotspot detection, and promotes adherence to national malaria guidelines.
Responsibilities
Malaria Technical Support
- Provide field-level support for malaria case management, iCCM, HBM, and MiP.
- Support CHWs and providers to follow national malaria guidelines and MFT protocols.
- Participate in planning and delivering malaria prevention and surveillance activities.
- Provide continuous technical assistance to health workers in identified hotspots to implement malaria interventions.
- Assist health centers and community health workers staff through training and mentorship.
- Strengthening community capacity for early malaria detection and prevention.
Hotspot Identification & Response
- Monitor malaria trends and support community-based hotspot detection.
- Participate in hotspot mapping and targeted interventions.
- Support test-and-treat, referral strengthening, and outbreak response activities.
Capacity Building , Field Supervision & Activity Monitoring
- Train and mentor CHWs, health facility staff, CEHOs
- Lead field-level malaria training and mentorship sessions
- Conduct field visits to monitor malaria activities.
- Ensure proper use of reporting tools, job aids, and malaria commodities.
- Identify challenges and support corrective actions.
Data, Reporting, and Documentation
- Support accurate malaria reporting at community and facility levels.
- Participate in district data review meetings.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and field observations.
- Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates.
Administrative Support
- Support logistics for training, workshops, and field activities.
- Assist with distribution of supplies, job aids, and training materials.
- Support budgeting, planning, and financial documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma (A1) in Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Community Health
- Valid license from Rwanda Council of Nurses, Midwives (NCNM) or Rwanda Allied Health Professions Council (RAHPC).
- 2–3 years of experience in malaria or community health programming.
- Experience working with CHWs, districts, CSOs, or FBOs.
- Strong understanding of Rwanda’s health system and malaria program.
- Ability to train and supervise field teams.
- Good data management and reporting skills.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English
- Proficiency in MS office applications.
- Willingness to travel 85% of the time.
