Open Call for Funding Applications - Ongezea Loan Fund – August 3^rd to August 27^th, 2023

Kumwe Hub is an African-focused innovative finance and impact investment intermediary within Save the Children based in Rwanda. We support the growth, success, and sustainability of local businesses that are having a positive impact on children.

Kumwe Hub, in partnership with Inkomoko Capital, is launching the second batch of investments in start-ups and small businesses which make a positive difference for children and communities in Rwanda in the areas of environment and climate change.

Kumwe Hub has partnered with Inkomoko to support small businesses and start-ups through the Ongezea Loan Fund, by offering low-cost capital and a tailored package of wrap-around services that include technical support, business advisory, and mentoring from world-class business experts. Our loan fund is focused on businesses that are working in environmental protection and climate change mitigation. Successful applicants will join a network of Rwandan businesses that impact the lives of children.

Who Should Apply?

Small businesses with a proven track record or clear potential for making a positive social and environmental impact, that are restrained by lack of appropriate financing or need business support to grow and increase the impact on the lives of children and communities.  

What are the eligibility criteria? 

Eligible businesses must:

• Be a for-profit business entity.
• Offer products or services for environmental sustainability/climate change mitigation which benefit children
• Clearly demonstrate how the business and the loan will positively impact children
• Be legally registered in Rwanda.
• Be a local business with operations based in Rwanda and products or services accessed by communities in Rwanda.
• Operate in the areas of environmental protection or climate change mitigation.
• Have evidence of at least 1 year of consistent revenues
