Purpose of the Position
The Communications Intern will support FAWE Rwanda’s communications activities aimed at enhancing organizational visibility, stakeholder engagement, and brand awareness. The intern will assist with content creation, digital communications, media engagement, event documentation, and advocacy initiatives while gaining practical experience in communication and development work.
Major Responsibilities
Communications and Content Development
- Implement FAWE Rwanda’s communication strategy.
- Support the Production, development and dissemination of communication/ multimedia materials which may include but are not limited to: success stories, newsletters, website content, press releases, and social media posts, videos, photographs, graphics, and presentations.
- Support with publicizing FAWE Rwanda activities for example partner engagements like meetings, workshops, and organizational events.
- Ensure timely dissemination of organizational information through appropriate communication channels and social media platforms.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly newsletters.
- Support program staff to document stories, testimonials, and project achievements from beneficiaries and partners.
- Contribute to the development of advocacy campaigns and awareness-raising communication materials.
- Monitor social media platforms and support engagement with followers and stakeholders for any FAWE Rwanda related work.
- Tracking social media performance and preparing basic analytics reports.
- Ensuring that communication materials produced comply with FAWE Rwanda’s branding guidelines.
- Undertake any other communications-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Managing and updating media contact lists and databases.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
- Recent graduate or final-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, Mass Communication, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous internship, volunteer experience, campus leadership, or practical experience in communications, media, public relations, or related fields is an added advantage.
- Basic experience in social media management and content development.
- Familiarity with photography, videography, graphic design, or related creative tools is desirable.
- Experience in student organizations, NGOs, community initiatives, or youth programs will be an added advantage.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; knowledge of French is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of graphic design and content creation tools such as Canva or similar platforms is an added advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
- Interest in Education, Gender Equality, Youth Empowerment, and community development.
- Commitment to FAWE Rwanda’s mission, vision, and values.
Remuneration Package and Benefits
- Internship Stipend: 250,000 FRW per month.
- Other benefits shall be provided in accordance with FAWE Rwanda policies.
